Indonesia Urges OIC to Mobilize Against Israel’s Annexation Plans in Gaza

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to mobilize all its resources to oppose Israel’s reported plan to annex the Gaza Strip and expand settlements in the West Bank.
Speaking at an emergency OIC ministerial session in Jeddah on Monday, Deputy Foreign Minister Anis Matta emphasized that Israel’s push to fully occupy Gaza under the vision of a “Greater Israel” poses an existential threat to the sovereignty and survival of countries in the region.
“The OIC must mobilize all its strength and resources to reject and stop Israel’s plan to fully occupy Gaza and expand settlements in the West Bank,” Matta said, stressing that unity and collective mechanisms are crucial to safeguarding the sovereignty and future of OIC member states.
He reaffirmed Indonesia’s unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause, declaring, “No matter how long it takes or how great the sacrifice required, Palestine will always remain the beating heart of this community.”
Matta urged the OIC to work with international organizations to end the war in Gaza and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid through all possible routes. He condemned Israel’s use of starvation as “a weapon of war and genocide,” noting that the UN has declared Gaza to be in a state of total famine.
With growing international support for Palestine, the Deputy Foreign Minister encouraged the OIC to seize the momentum to press for wider recognition of Palestinian independence. He also called on the UN Security Council to convene a special session to end Israel’s occupation of Gaza and other Palestinian territories.
The emergency meeting in Jeddah was attended by representatives from 43 of the 57 OIC member states, including 21 foreign ministers and a delegation from Palestine. The session concluded with a resolution reaffirming the OIC’s unified stance, rejecting Israel’s annexation plans, demanding immediate humanitarian access to Gaza, and urging the international community to take swift measures to halt Israeli aggression.
