Indonesian Ambassador Presents Credentials to Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Pakistan, Chandra Warsenanto Sukotjo, formally presented President Prabowo Subianto’s Letter of Credence to President Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan on Friday at the Aiwan-e-Sadr Presidential Palace in Islamabad.
According to a statement from the Indonesian Embassy, the ambassador, dressed in traditional Teluk Belanga attire and accompanied by his wife, was escorted by officials from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs from his residence to the palace. Upon arrival, he was received by the Head of State Protocol and accorded full military honors before submitting his credentials.
With the presentation of the Letter of Credence, Sukotjo officially assumed office as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
During his meeting with President Zardari, the ambassador conveyed warm greetings from President Prabowo Subianto and expressed Indonesia’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations across multiple sectors. President Zardari, in turn, welcomed the ambassador and voiced his wish to visit Indonesia, saying, “I’d really like to meet my friends in Indonesia.”
Since his arrival in July as Ambassador-designate, Sukotjo has actively engaged in strengthening defense, economic, and community cooperation. Notably, he supported the mid-July visit of Indonesian Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin to Pakistan and held meetings with Indonesian nationals, the ASEAN Committee in Islamabad (ACI), and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).
His efforts to enhance economic relations have been welcomed by Pakistani business leaders. A day before presenting his credentials, Sukotjo was invited by CEO Club Pakistan to a working dinner attended by Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarrar, several ambassadors, and leading businessmen.
Minister Tarrar underscored Pakistan’s readiness to expand economic cooperation with Indonesia, noting, “Indonesia is the largest economy in ASEAN. It certainly has enormous potential.” Echoing this sentiment, Ijaz Nisar, President and founder of CEO Club Pakistan, highlighted Pakistan’s “Look East” vision and called for closer engagement with Indonesia, recalling his visit to the 2024 Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) and CEO Summit in Bali with a delegation of Pakistani entrepreneurs.
