Indonesian Esports Teams Set to Compete at China–ASEAN Esports Competition 2025

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: The Indonesian national esports teams for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) and Valorant will represent the country at the China–ASEAN Esports Competition 2025 (CAEC), taking place from September 17 to 19 in Nanning, China.
“Indonesia’s participation in CAEC 2025 will bring positive energy and provide a vital opportunity to gain experience, while proving that our esports athletes are ready to compete at regional and global levels,” said Glorya Famiella, Deputy Chairperson of the Competition Division of the Indonesian Esports Executive Board (PB ESI), in a written statement from Jakarta on Monday.
She further expressed strong support for the teams, adding, “We hope they deliver their best performance, uphold sportsmanship, and achieve results that make the nation proud.”
CAEC 2025, an initiative of the Asia Electronic Sports Federation (AESF), seeks to promote community, friendship, and sportsmanship among young esports players across Asia. Eleven countries will participate, including Brunei Darussalam, China, the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam. The teams will be divided into four competitive groups.
In the MLBB tournament, Indonesia’s roster features Zulfikar, Kenley Nathaniel Zefanya, Kenneth Marcello, Muhammad Nur Efandy Yusuf, and Sultan Muhammad, coached by Muhammad Farizudin. They are placed in Group A alongside Timor-Leste, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Thailand.
For Valorant, the Indonesian lineup consists of Rayhan Filardhi Azhar, Thomas Alfiantino, Lingardi Putra, Davin, and Alehandro Fabain, under the guidance of coach Baskoro Dwi Putra. They will face Cambodia, Thailand, and Malaysia in Group A.
Indonesia enters CAEC 2025 with strong momentum, building on recent international achievements. The national eFootball Mobile team secured three gold medals and the overall championship at the 2025 ASEAN Youth Esports Championship (AYESC). Meanwhile, the MLBB Women’s National Team, bolstered by Team Vitality, won the MLBB Women’s Invitational at the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025. Indonesian powerhouses EVOS, RRQ Kazu, Vitality, and ONIC Esports also dominated the Free Fire category at the same event, while the INA 2 Free Fire National Team, led by ONIC Esports, captured the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) SEA Spring 2025 trophy.
According to PB ESI, participation in CAEC 2025 represents not only a competitive opportunity but also an important step toward advancing Indonesia’s esports ecosystem. More than a tournament, the event aligns with PB ESI’s vision of esports as an inclusive, highly competitive sport and a platform for strengthening Indonesia’s international partnerships.
