Indonesian Foreign Minister Hails US Gaza Peace Proposal as Progressive Step

Progressive Step

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia’s Foreign Minister, Sugiono, has described the peace initiative for Gaza introduced by US President Donald Trump as a concrete and progressive step toward resolving the longstanding conflict.

Speaking at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, Sugiono stated, “We consider this a concrete and progressive step after a long time.” He highlighted Indonesia’s active participation in discussions with multiple foreign ministers on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

According to the Foreign Minister, all parties present at the meeting acknowledged the importance of US involvement in efforts to achieve lasting peace in Gaza. Sugiono noted that the proposal has received positive responses from both conflicting sides.

He emphasized that Indonesia’s primary focus remains on ending violence in Gaza and ensuring access for humanitarian assistance. “The main points of the proposal must be discussed. This is now under negotiation,” he added.

Sugiono reaffirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to closely monitor developments and expressed hope that this initiative could mark the beginning of a lasting peace in Gaza.

The peace plan, unveiled by President Trump in Washington, D.C., on September 29, is titled the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict. The 20-point proposal includes measures to end hostilities, facilitate the release of hostages, and rebuild Gaza with international support.
