Indonesian Navy to Deploy Landing Platform Dock for Independence Day Ceremony in Nusantara

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: The Indonesian Navy (TNI-AL) has announced plans to deploy a landing platform dock (LPD) on Sunday to transport equipment necessary for the Independence Day flag-raising ceremony, set to be held for the first time in the new capital city, Nusantara. This historic event marks a significant milestone as Indonesia prepares to celebrate its 79th anniversary of independence.
Upon arrival, a team of personnel aboard the amphibious transport dock will begin training for the flag-hoisting ceremony and the protection of Very Very Important Persons (VVIPs), a top navy officer stated on Saturday. Vice Admiral Hudiarto Krisno Hutomo, Chief of the Military Naval Command (Kolinlamil), confirmed that the LPD would be stationed in East Kalimantan Province to serve as temporary accommodation for personnel assigned to Nusantara. He also assured readiness to send additional ships to East Kalimantan waters if necessary.
In conjunction with the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) previously announced that the flag-raising ceremony would be conducted in both Nusantara and Jakarta. Coordinating Human Development and Culture Minister Muhadjir Effendy disclosed that President Jokowi will lead the ceremony in Nusantara, while Vice President Ma’ruf Amin will preside over the ceremony in Jakarta.
Indonesia declared its independence on August 17, 1945, shortly after Japan’s surrender to the US-led Allied forces during World War II. The proclamation of independence was made by the nation’s founding fathers, Soekarno and Hatta, in Jakarta on behalf of all Indonesian people.
This year’s dual-location celebration underscores the significance of Nusantara as the new capital and reflects Indonesia’s ongoing commitment to honoring its rich history and cultural heritage. The deployment of the LPD and the extensive preparations highlight the importance of this event in the nation’s calendar.
