Innovative WED Innovation Lab to Drive Early Childhood Development Initiatives in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: Following the success of the World Early Childhood Development (WED) launch at COP28, Abu Dhabi’s Early Childhood Authority (ECA) is poised to host the WED Innovation Lab from January 22nd to 26th, leading up to the second WED Forum in October 2024.
Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the lab, chaired by Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, will convene over 30 global experts to collaborate on groundbreaking solutions for a world-class, child-friendly ecosystem.
Focused on intentional parenting, culture and identity, and sustainable family-friendly cities, the lab aims to galvanize cross-sector multidisciplinary action. Sana Mohamed Suhail, Director-General of ECA, stated, “Our goal is to position the UAE as the catalyst for sustainable and positive change in early childhood development through advocacy, investment, and innovation.”
Taking place at Abu Dhabi’s iconic Yas Acres Golf and Country Club, the five-day event includes visits to local schools and play areas, fostering direct engagement with children and caregivers. Participants will present final ideation prototype pitches to a high-profile jury led by WED Chair Reem Al Hashimy, prioritizing viable outputs for piloting and implementation. The Innovation Lab exemplifies ECA’s commitment to developing a child-friendly environment at all levels, aligning with Emirati culture and global awareness.
As the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Development Authority oversees the implementation of the ‘Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Development Strategy for 2035,’ this strategic initiative is poised to lay a solid foundation for comprehensive and sustainable development by providing optimal early childhood care, fostering proper growth, and instilling essential skills in preparation for future challenges. The WED Innovation Lab marks a significant step towards realizing this vision.
