Iran and Iraq Announce Formation of Joint Cultural Commission
Baghdad, The Gulf Observer: In a significant step towards strengthening cultural ties, Iran’s cultural attaché in Iraq, Hojatoleslam Gholam Reza Abazari, and the Director General of the Department of Cultural Relations in the Republic of Iraq, Alaa Abo Al Hassan Al Alaak, have announced the formation of a joint cultural commission between the two countries.
During a meeting held in Baghdad, Abazari emphasized the importance of implementing existing cultural agreements between Iran and Iraq. He expressed his appreciation for the measures and preparations made by both sides to ensure a successful Arbaeen march this year. The Iranian envoy also stressed the necessity for the two countries to sign a memorandum of understanding in the field of tourism and pilgrimage to the holy shrines in both nations.
Alaak, the Iraqi official, identified six key areas for cultural cooperation: children and adolescents, cinema and theater, books and publishing, visual arts exhibitions, fashion and clothing, and tourism. He confirmed Iraq’s readiness to collaborate with Iran in these fields.
Concluding the meeting, Alaak announced the Iraqi ministry’s readiness to sign the cultural exchange program prepared between the two countries, signaling a new era of cultural cooperation between Iran and Iraq.
