Iran and Qatar to Boost Economic Cooperation

Doha, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s Minister of Energy, Abbas Aliabadi, and Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al-Thani, held high-level discussions in Doha aimed at strengthening economic and commercial cooperation between the two nations, particularly in the fields of investment and joint production in Iran.
According to a statement from Iran’s Ministry of Energy, the two ministers explored a range of strategic initiatives, including the facilitation of customs and insurance procedures, the promotion of cultural exchanges, and the development of health tourism between the two countries.
One of the key topics addressed during the meeting was the potential for enhanced electrical connectivity between Iran and Qatar. Aliabadi also met separately with Qatari Minister of Energy Saad Sherida al-Kaabi, where they emphasized the importance of finalizing studies related to the electricity link between the two countries. Both ministers underscored the urgency of accelerating the project to bolster regional energy cooperation.
Aliabadi further proposed expanding Iran’s technical services, including the export of energy-related expertise to Qatar. The Qatari side responded positively, expressing interest in deepening technical collaboration in the energy sector.
The meetings mark a significant step forward in Iran-Qatar relations, as both nations continue to pursue shared economic goals and regional partnerships.
