Iran Calls for Swift Islamic Support for Lebanon and Palestine

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s Vice-President Mohammad Reza Aref has urged Islamic countries to take immediate and decisive actions to support Lebanon and Palestine, criticizing the international community’s failure to address the crises facing both nations.

Speaking with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Sunday, Aref expressed condolences over the martyrdom of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Beirut’s Dahieh neighborhood two days earlier. The attack, which devastated residential areas, marks a significant escalation in violence in the region.

“The martyrdom of Nasrallah and the brutal airstrikes on civilian areas in Beirut highlight the peak of brutality of the Israeli regime, conducted under U.S. support,” Aref stated. He called for the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to take more determined and effective steps to address the ongoing crises in Lebanon and Gaza.

Aref further emphasized that Islamic nations must mobilize political and diplomatic efforts to increase pressure on Israel to halt its attacks on civilian areas. He stressed the importance of taking practical measures to support the Palestinian and Lebanese people, calling for unity among Islamic countries to resist what he described as illegal actions by Israel.

The Iranian vice-president also reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to supporting Lebanon both politically and economically during this challenging period.

In response, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati described Nasrallah’s death as a great loss for Lebanon and reiterated the need for international support. He appealed to countries around the world to stand with Lebanon as it faces the consequences of the escalating conflict.

This development comes amid rising tensions across the region, with renewed calls for peace and stability from international actors.
