Iran, Pakistan to Convene 22nd Joint Economic Commission in Tehran

Tehran

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan will pay an official visit to Tehran on Sunday to co-chair the 22nd Joint Economic Commission (JEC) of Iran and Pakistan, the Pakistani Ambassador to Tehran, Muhammad Mudassir Tipu, confirmed in an interview on Saturday.

The commission will be chaired on the Iranian side by Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh, while Jam Kamal Khan will head the Pakistani delegation.

Ambassador Tipu noted that a bilateral business conference will also take place on the sidelines of the commission, with the participation of around 100 economic stakeholders, including heads of chambers of commerce and representatives of major investment companies from both countries.

He underlined that discussions at the JEC and business forum will cover a wide range of areas, including trade, economy, border activities, transportation, energy, and people-to-people exchanges. “It is expected that favorable agreements will be reached by senior Iranian and Pakistani officials,” he said.

The ambassador recalled the recent agreement reached during Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit to Islamabad to increase bilateral trade volume to $10 billion, stressing that the upcoming joint economic commission would significantly contribute to achieving this target.

During his stay in Tehran, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan is also scheduled to hold meetings with senior Iranian officials, including the First Vice President of the Islamic Republic.
