Iran, Russia Leaders Reaffirm Commitment to Strategic Partnership Treaty at SCO Summit

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Russian President Vladimir Putin have underscored the importance of fully implementing the Treaty on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Iran and Russia during their meeting on the sidelines of the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China, on Monday.

President Pezeshkian described the treaty as a cornerstone for strengthening bilateral relations and broadening cooperation. He emphasized that collaboration within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) would further accelerate joint initiatives.

The Iranian leader reaffirmed his personal commitment to removing barriers and expediting the execution of all agreements with Russia. He also highlighted the importance of scientific and academic exchanges, describing them as key to fostering wider, multifaceted cooperation.

Pezeshkian further underlined the role of international institutions such as the SCO in promoting multilateralism and countering unilateral approaches pursued by the United States and its allies.

For his part, President Putin conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and reiterated that Iran–Russia relations remain friendly and are steadily advancing.

The Russian president pointed to the notable increase in bilateral trade, the growing number of Iranian students in Russian universities, and the deepening cultural and tourism exchanges. He also emphasized ongoing discussions on regional and international matters, including cooperation regarding Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.
