Iran Urges Emergency OIC Meeting Over Gaza

Iran

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has called for an emergency session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), stressing that the situation in Gaza has transcended the boundaries of a humanitarian crisis and now constitutes the systematic annihilation of a besieged civilian population.

In an official letter addressed to OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, Araghchi urged the immediate convening of an emergency OIC meeting to address what he described as an unfolding humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

Citing the latest statistics and reports from credible humanitarian organizations and international media, Araghchi warned that the situation in Gaza can only be described as genocide. He emphasized that Israeli officials have publicly declared their intent to erase Gaza’s political identity, forcibly displace its entire population, and permanently occupy the territory.

The Iranian foreign minister called on the OIC to:

  • Assess the legal and political implications of Israel’s actions in Gaza;
  • Coordinate urgent humanitarian aid efforts;
  • Formulate a unified political response from the Islamic world; and
  • Take practical steps—including diplomatic, legal, and economic measures—to halt the aggression and hold Israel accountable under international law.

Araghchi’s letter reflects growing calls across the Islamic world for decisive action amid mounting casualties and destruction in the Gaza Strip.
