Iran Vows to Avenge Haniyeh’s Assassination: Supreme Leader
Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran considers it a duty to seek retribution for the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh on Iranian soil.
In a message issued on Wednesday, Ayatollah Khamenei expressed condolences following Haniyeh’s martyrdom in an attack on his residence in Tehran earlier in the day.
“The criminal and terrorist Zionist regime has martyred our esteemed guest within our own home, causing us grief. However, this act has paved the way for a severe reprisal,” the Supreme Leader declared in his statement.
Ayatollah Khamenei noted that Haniyeh had never feared martyrdom and had previously sacrificed his family and loved ones for the cause of Resistance.
He extended his condolences to the resilient people of Palestine and to Haniyeh’s family in light of the resistance leader’s death and that of his companion in the Tehran attack.
