Iranian and Indonesian Foreign Ministers Discuss Bilateral Ties and Regional Developments

Tehran, The Gul Observer: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi held a telephone conversation with his Indonesian counterpart, Foreign Minister Sugiono, to review the state of bilateral relations and exchange views on pressing regional and international developments.
During the discussion, Minister Araqchi emphasized the importance of further strengthening the longstanding relationship between Tehran and Jakarta, describing both Iran and Indonesia as two pivotal developing nations within the Islamic world. He stressed the necessity of implementing and following up on existing agreements between the two countries and underscored the value of sustained high-level diplomatic engagement to advance shared objectives.
Minister Araqchi also outlined Iran’s position on the evolving situation in West Asia, particularly condemning the continued occupation and widespread violence against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. He described the actions of the Israeli regime, carried out with the support of the United States and certain Western nations, as constituting genocide and systematic torture against innocent civilians.
He noted that despite the issuance of arrest warrants by the International Criminal Court and interim orders by the International Court of Justice to halt the atrocities, the Israeli regime’s campaign of aggression has continued unabated. Araqchi further pointed to ongoing Israeli strikes on Lebanon and Syria, and criticized the United States for its parallel military actions in Yemen.
In light of these developments, the Iranian Foreign Minister called for greater unity among Islamic countries, urging them to adopt more effective measures to stop the violence and ensure the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people.
In response, Foreign Minister Sugiono reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to enhancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Iran. He expressed agreement with the proposals to elevate Iran-Indonesia relations and offered his support for Araqchi’s stance on the grave humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the West Bank.
Minister Sugiono echoed the call for Islamic nations to act urgently, advocating for an immediate ceasefire and the reopening of humanitarian aid corridors to support the Palestinian population.
The conversation underscored the mutual desire of both nations to deepen diplomatic ties and cooperate in addressing critical issues facing the Islamic world.
