Iranian Vice-President Zarif Meets Iraq’s Ammar al-Hakim to Discuss Regional Stability
Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian Vice-President for Strategic Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif has met with Seyyed Ammar al-Hakim, the head of Iraq’s National Wisdom Movement, during his visit to Iraq, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported on Thursday.
During the meeting, al-Hakim underscored the significance of regional cooperation in addressing ongoing tensions and called on countries to actively contribute to the reconstruction efforts in Gaza and Lebanese cities. He further emphasized the necessity of ensuring that the Syrian people have fair opportunities to express their political will, establish an inclusive national government, and draft a constitution reflective of their aspirations.
Al-Hakim also highlighted Iraq’s political, security, social, and economic progress in recent years, stressing the importance of preserving these achievements, particularly in maintaining national stability. He noted that Iraq’s stability plays a crucial role in the overall security of the Middle East.
“The stability of the region is interconnected with the stability of all its countries, which must be safeguarded through mutual respect for their characteristics and spheres of influence,” al-Hakim stated.
The meeting underscores ongoing diplomatic engagements aimed at fostering regional security and cooperation amid escalating geopolitical challenges.
