Iran's Acting FM Heads to Saudi Arabia for Urgent OIC Summit

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani departed Tehran for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday morning to participate in an extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Heading a delegation, Bagheri Kani is scheduled to attend the meeting, which will focus on the ongoing crimes committed by the Israeli regime against the Palestinian people. The extraordinary session will also address the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh by the Zionist regime, as well as violations of the sovereignty and national security of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The meeting is a result of Iran’s intensive diplomatic efforts, with Bagheri Kani conducting numerous consultations and contacts with the OIC Secretary General and the foreign ministers of member countries.

Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Hamas resistance group, was assassinated in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on July 31, a day after attending the inauguration ceremony of President Masoud Pezeshkian. In response to this incident, Iran has vowed to retaliate against the Israeli regime.
