Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Major General Hossein Salami, the chief commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), met with the family of the late Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian on Tuesday, paying tribute to his legacy and contributions.

In his remarks, Major General Salami praised Amirabdollahian’s genius, political acumen, and diplomatic skills. “Martyr Amirabdollahian possessed a deep understanding of both classical and resistance diplomacy,” Salami stated. He emphasized that even adversaries recognized Amirabdollahian’s sincerity and effectiveness in his diplomatic engagements.

Salami highlighted Amirabdollahian’s bravery, noting his willingness to visit challenging regions such as Lebanon and Syria without hesitation. “He was a very brave diplomat who fearlessly engaged in critical missions,” Salami added.

The tragic loss of Hossein Amirabdollahian occurred on May 19, when a helicopter carrying him and his companions, including the eighth president of Iran, Raisi, crashed in the Varzaqan region of East Azerbaijan province. Their untimely deaths have been mourned by the nation and have underscored the enduring risks faced by Iran’s diplomatic and political leaders.

Major General Salami’s meeting with Amirabdollahian’s family serves as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by Iran’s leaders and the enduring impact of their service on the nation’s history and diplomacy.
