Israel’s Assassination of Haniyeh 'A Grave Mistake' That Will Face Repercussions: Pezeshkian

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has strongly condemned the assassination of Hamas political chief Esmail Haniyeh by the Israeli regime, labeling it as a significant mistake that will not go unanswered.

President Pezeshkian made this statement on Sunday during a meeting with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi in Tehran. He emphasized that Haniyeh, who was a guest of the Islamic Republic, was targeted in an act that violates international law. Pezeshkian called on all Islamic countries and freedom-seekers worldwide to denounce the assassination, stating, “The Zionists’ arrogance will not go unanswered.”

In the meeting, Safadi conveyed a congratulatory message from Jordanian King Abdullah II to Pezeshkian, wishing him success in his new role as president of Iran. The Jordanian Foreign Minister also expressed his country’s condemnation of the assassination, accusing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of attempting to incite further conflict in the region.

Discussions between Pezeshkian and Safadi included the state of Tehran-Amman relations, with both parties seeking to enhance bilateral ties. President Pezeshkian reiterated that his administration’s foreign policy is focused on promoting peace and stability in the region and beyond.

Earlier on Sunday, Safadi also held talks with Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani, furthering diplomatic discussions between the two nations.
