Dubai, The Gulf Observer: Italian fashion excellence is set to shine at the upcoming Dubai Fashion Week (DFW) with the debut of “La Moda Italiana: Dubai Edition.” This inaugural exhibition, part of the Spring/Summer 2025 edition of DFW, will be held from 1st to 3rd September at Dubai Design District (d3), a subsidiary of TECOM Group PJSC. The week-long fashion showcase, co-founded by Dubai Design District and the Arab Fashion Council, will run from 1st to 7th September, highlighting Dubai’s status as a global fashion hub.

Organised by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) in collaboration with DFW, “La Moda Italiana: Dubai Edition” marks the first time the prestigious exhibition will be held in the UAE. It will provide fashion enthusiasts and industry professionals with an exclusive opportunity to experience the latest in fine Italian fashion. The exhibition will feature 25 renowned Italian brands, showcasing a diverse array of fashion categories, including clothing, footwear, leather goods, and eyewear. Each brand has been meticulously selected by the ITA to represent the pinnacle of Italian craftsmanship and quality, underscoring Italy’s storied legacy in the fashion industry.

This collaboration between the ITA and DFW underscores the strong cultural and economic ties between Italy and the UAE. By leveraging the Spring/Summer 2025 edition to promote Italian brands, DFW continues to establish itself as a gateway to strategic partnerships and markets, further reinforcing Dubai’s position as a leading global fashion capital.

Lorenzo Fanara, Ambassador of Italy to the UAE, highlighted the significance of this partnership, stating, “Italy is synonymous with style and beauty, passion for quality lifestyle, culture, art, fashion, food, and wellbeing. Italy is the second-largest exporter of apparel in the world, thanks to a successful integration of the highest design and production standards, with a focus on the high quality and sustainability of textiles used in clothing production. Italy’s fashion exports to the UAE reached €838 million in 2023 and are continuously growing.”

Fanara also emphasized the digital impact of Italian fashion, noting that “Fashion represents the most important sector of digital exports, accounting for about 66 percent of online export of Made in Italy consumer goods. With the new flagship initiative ‘La Moda Italiana: Dubai Edition’, launched by the Italian Trade Agency together with Dubai Fashion Week, Confindustria Moda, and 25 leading Italian brands, we will showcase the best that Made in Italy has to offer in the fashion scene to a distinguished audience of key stakeholders.”

Valerio Soldani, Italian Trade Commissioner to the UAE, expressed enthusiasm for the exhibition, stating, “We are thrilled to finally start, for the first time ever, the Italian Fashion Showcase at Dubai Fashion Week. We have been working hard to deliver this first edition as a key milestone: one more opportunity to innovate, increase, and improve our portfolio of activities meeting the growth of fast-paced industries driving the constant growth of Made in Italy in the key global market of the Emirates. Italian exports of fashion products have reached €378 million (a 38 percent increase) as of April 2024, delivering excellence in all the ‘total look’ industry verticals Italy is famous for.”

Khadija Al Bastaki, Senior Vice President of Dubai Design District (d3), commented on the deep-rooted relationship between the UAE and Italy, saying, “The UAE and Italy have long shared a mutual appreciation for culture, heritage, and passion, which has enriched our bilateral trade and cooperation. DFW’s collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency strengthens those foundations and promotes collective economic and commercial growth through the fashion sector. La Moda Italiana: Dubai Edition will reinforce DFW as a gateway to new business opportunities and markets and bolster Dubai’s position among the world’s fashion capitals.”

With the introduction of “La Moda Italiana: Dubai Edition,” Dubai Fashion Week is set to offer a unique platform for Italian fashion to reach new audiences, further solidifying the UAE’s reputation as a premier destination for luxury and style.
