Jakarta installs water mist generators to combat air pollution
Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: 109 tall buildings in Jakarta, including the City Hall, Friday have installed 125 water mist generators in an effort to combat air pollution in the capital city, according to a local official.
“Additionally, 28 more water mist units are in the process of installation and will operate as an effort to improve air quality,” said Ani Ruspitawati, spokesperson for the Jakarta Air Pollution Control Task Force (PPU), on Saturday.
The provincial government has also intensified the watering of protocol roads and increased the installation of water mist generators in an effort to reduce air pollution that is still quite high.
“Those efforts have been carried out in a more massive way,” Ruspitawati stated.
She said that the watering of protocol roads was conducted by the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service.
As of September 28, 2023, protocol roads had been watered at 290 locations across the city, with 287 vehicles used and 1,128 fire personnel deployed, she stated.
Meanwhile, the Jakarta Health Service reminded the public to avoid pollution by avoiding unnecessary outdoor activities, wearing a KN95 or KF94 mask while doing outdoor activities, and providing routine immunization to children and the Haemophilus influenzae vaccination to vulnerable groups.
