Jokowi Urges Indonesian Muslims to Emulate Prophet Muhammad’s Life on Mawlid Day
Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) called on Indonesian Muslims to follow the example of Prophet Muhammad in spreading peace and goodness within their communities and across the world. The President’s message was shared in honor of Mawlid Day, commemorating the birth of the Prophet, which in 2024 fell on September 16, corresponding to the 12th day of Rabi’ul Awwal in the Islamic calendar.
“On this Mawlid of Prophet Muhammad, let us take inspiration from Rasulullah (God’s Messenger) to emanate good and peace to all,” President Jokowi conveyed through his official Instagram account, as observed on Monday. His message was accompanied by an image of Indonesian Muslims celebrating the birth of the Prophet.
The President’s statement encouraged Indonesians to strengthen their commitment to preserving social harmony and improving the quality of life. He also expressed hope that people would pray for one another and be inspired to perform good deeds. “We hope we will always be empowered to emulate His noble deeds,” Jokowi added.
Mawlid Day is a public holiday in Indonesia, with celebrations marked by religious assemblies, Quran recitations, and traditional processions in various regions across the country.
