Kadin Indonesia Launches Global Engagement Office in Paris to Bolster Economic Diplomacy

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has officially launched its Global Engagement Office (Kadin GEO) in Paris, France, marking a strategic milestone in strengthening Indonesia’s international economic diplomacy and global partnerships.
The inauguration of the Paris office, held in conjunction with France’s Bastille Day celebrations on July 14, 2025, was described by Kadin Indonesia Chairperson Anindya Bakrie as a timely initiative, especially in the wake of the initial signing of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (I-EU CEPA).
“We need a navigator in the European Union, and this is where France plays a key role in opening more opportunities for economic cooperation with Indonesia — particularly after the I-EU CEPA signing in Brussels,” Bakrie said in a press release issued Tuesday evening.
The new Kadin GEO will be led by Kadin Indonesia’s Vice Chairperson for International Relations, Bernardino M. Vega, and is designed to serve as a diplomatic and commercial bridge between Indonesian enterprises and the broader global business ecosystem.
According to Bakrie, the office will play a pivotal role in presenting a consistent and strategic message when representing Indonesia at bilateral and multilateral platforms, including ASEAN, APEC, OECD, BRICS, COP, and the G20.
“We want to promote a consistent message when representing Indonesia in bilateral and multilateral forums. This is crucial, especially with our active roles in ASEAN, APEC, OECD, BRICS, COP, and the G20,” he noted.
Kadin Vice Chairperson for Foreign Affairs, James Riady, emphasized that the Paris office is expected to catalyze increased French investment into Indonesia.
“We hope that France, with its significant role, can further encourage various companies to actively contribute to the development of the Indonesian economy,” Riady stated.
The establishment of Kadin GEO underscores Indonesia’s firm commitment to global economic engagement. Through this initiative, Kadin aims to enhance cross-border collaboration in trade, investment, and sustainable development, thereby positioning Indonesia as a dynamic and influential player in the international economic arena.
