Katara Prize for Arabic Poetry Embarks on its 3rd Edition with ‘Mothers of the Believers’ Theme
Doha, The Gulf Observer: The Cultural Village Foundation – Katara proudly announces the commencement of the 3rd edition of the prestigious Katara Prize for Arabic Poetry, themed ‘Mothers of the Believers.’ In a symbolic tribute to the esteemed wife of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), Hafsah bint Umar, this year’s edition of the prize aims to celebrate and honor her legacy.
The Katara Prize for Arabic Poetry, ‘Mothers of the Believers,’ is designed to heighten awareness among the youth and future generations about the pivotal role played by the family members of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), particularly his wives who are revered as the mothers of the believers. The competition seeks to encourage the production of literature and poetry that delves into the lives of these extraordinary women and their profound impact on the development of Islam and the broader role of women in society.
Participants from around the world are invited to join the competition, which opens at the beginning of Ramadan and runs until the conclusion of the fasting month. Applications must be submitted to ummahatkatara.net and include a CV, passport photo, passport copy, along with poems in both Word document and PDF formats. The poem files should refrain from mentioning the participant’s name or country of origin.
The Katara Prize for Arabic Poetry, ‘Mothers of the Believers,’ boasts a total value of QR 120,000, distributed as follows: QR 60,000 for the first-place winner, QR 40,000 for the second-place winner, and QR 20,000 for the third-place winner.
This prestigious award is part of Katara’s commitment to fostering literary and cultural expression, adding to its array of annual prizes, including the Katara Prize for Quran Recitation and the Katara Prize for the Prophet’s Poet.
