Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a significant meeting with U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai, highlighting the importance of her visit in enhancing trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United States, according to the reports from Akorda.
During the meeting, President Tokayev emphasized the robust strategic partnership that has developed over the past thirty years, encompassing various domains such as trade, investment, security, human rights, and democracy. He noted, “Your country is one of the major investors in the Kazakh economy. The total volume of direct foreign investments exceeds 65 billion US dollars. Last year, the trade turnover between the countries reached a record high of 4.1 billion US dollars, increasing by 30%. Up to 600 American companies successfully operate in Kazakhstan. I attach the utmost importance to bettering the investment attractiveness, economic liberalization, and industrial development support.”
In response, Katherine Tai expressed her gratitude to President Tokayev for the warm reception and the opportunity to discuss new strategies to foster trade relations and create conducive conditions for enhanced economic interaction. She also highlighted the significance of the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) in this context.
The discussions between President Tokayev and Representative Tai are expected to pave the way for stronger economic ties and mutual prosperity, building on the existing foundation of cooperation and shared interests between Kazakhstan and the United States.
