Kazakh Prime Minister Bektenov Urges Stronger Support for Domestic Producers

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov of Kazakhstan has called for greater support of domestic producers and emphasized the need for industrial self-sufficiency during a government meeting on Tuesday, according to local media reports.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Bektenov announced that Kazakhstan will officially launch a national register of domestic producers on January 1, 2026. The register will serve as the sole mechanism for identifying and prioritizing authentic domestic manufacturers in public and quasi-public procurement processes.
“The establishment of this register will ensure that only verified domestic producers are given procurement priority, thereby enhancing transparency and boosting local industry,” Bektenov stated.
He also directed all major enterprises in the country to design and implement programs aimed at increasing domestic value creation by fostering the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in nearby areas. According to the Prime Minister, this initiative is expected to facilitate direct procurement opportunities and lead to the development of new production facilities.
In addition, Bektenov instructed relevant authorities to allocate financing for the construction of infrastructure supporting industrial enterprises, particularly those located within special economic and industrial zones. He further underscored the importance of promoting industrial cooperation among domestic companies, with the aim of advancing import substitution through the application of advanced technological solutions.
The Prime Minister’s directives form part of a broader strategy to strengthen Kazakhstan’s industrial base, promote local entrepreneurship, and enhance economic resilience amid evolving global supply chain dynamics.
