Digitalization

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov of Kazakhstan chaired a government meeting on Tuesday dedicated to advancing the development and digitalization of the country’s labor market, according to local media reports. The session focused on enhancing employment strategies, creating permanent jobs, and integrating digital tools to improve policy implementation.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Bektenov emphasized the need for regional authorities and relevant ministries to intensify their efforts to ensure sustainable employment across the country.

“Regional authorities must take personal responsibility for implementing employment plans, placing particular emphasis on the creation of permanent jobs,” Bektenov stated.

He directed the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, in collaboration with regional administrations, to ensure the full implementation of key performance indicators (KPIs) outlined in regional employment roadmaps. The Prime Minister highlighted that the focus should remain on generating long-term employment opportunities.

Additionally, the Ministry of National Economy and regional authorities were instructed to include all projects scheduled for implementation in 2025–2027 into the state planning information system by September 1. This move aims to align state programs with job creation measures and enhance coordination between economic planning and labor policy.

Prime Minister Bektenov also announced that starting from early 2026, recruitment-related KPIs would be introduced for district and city leaders, signaling a shift towards performance-based accountability at the local level.

To support this comprehensive strategy, the Ministry of Digital Development was tasked with integrating data from government bodies and private sector entities. The ministry will also be responsible for developing a unified digital platform capable of tracking job creation and evaluating the effectiveness of employment initiatives in real time.

The meeting underscores the government’s commitment to modernizing Kazakhstan’s labor market infrastructure and ensuring employment policies are both data-driven and impact-oriented.
