Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting with René Fasel, Founder of Phygital International, and Nis Hatt, CEO of Phygital International, to discuss the development of phygital sports in Kazakhstan, according to media reports.
The meeting focused on the advancement of “phygital” sports — a new format that merges physical athleticism with cutting-edge digital technologies. A key topic of discussion was Kazakhstan’s preparation to host the 2026 Games of the Future, a high-profile international tournament that celebrates innovation in sport and technology.
Kazakh Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabossynov provided an update on the country’s ongoing preparations for the event. The Cybersports Federation of Kazakhstan noted that more than 1.5 million Kazakhstanis are currently engaged in cybersports, highlighting the nation’s growing interest in digital and hybrid sports disciplines.
The Games of the Future are expected to be hosted in Astana, further positioning Kazakhstan as a regional leader in the development of next-generation sports. The event aims to promote phygital disciplines among young people and foster greater international cooperation in the field.
Phygital International operates in collaboration with the World Phygital Community (WPC), which includes 98 member countries and serves as the global platform for phygital sports development.
The decision to award Kazakhstan the hosting rights for the 2026 Games of the Future was officially announced on October 13, marking a significant milestone in the country’s sports diplomacy and digital innovation agenda.
