Kazakhstan Affirms Turkmenistan as a Reliable Strategic Partner: Tokayev

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakh leader Kassym-Jomart Tokayev convened a meeting with Turkmenistan’s Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, who arrived in Astana for an official visit, as reported by the media outlets citing Akorda.

Welcoming the Turkmen diplomat, President Tokayev expressed satisfaction with the current state of Kazakh-Turkmen relations, which have been steadily advancing in a spirit of friendship, good-neighborliness, and strategic partnership.

“We regard Turkmenistan as a reliable strategic partner, a state close to us in terms of spirit and history. Recently, cooperation between our countries has been developing upward and gained new momentum, including in the strategic sectors of the economy,” remarked the Kazakh leader. Tokayev also conveyed his best wishes to Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedow and National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.

In response, Meredov expressed gratitude for the warm reception and affirmed Ashgabat’s commitment to further enhancing bilateral cooperation with Astana across the entire spectrum of interstate relations. The discussions delved into the implementation of major projects in trade, economics, energy, and transport and logistics, highlighting the importance of their successful realization and emphasizing the special nature of relations between the fraternal states.

Both sides emphasized the deepening of cultural and humanitarian dimensions, which continue to evolve with each passing year.

The interlocutors also tackled current regional and international issues and reviewed the schedule of upcoming high-level contacts, reaffirming the commitment to strengthening cooperation and dialogue at all levels.
