Kazakhstan

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakhstan and Brazil held the seventh round of political consultations in Astana, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across political, economic, and humanitarian spheres, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan announced.

The consultations were co-chaired by Kazakh First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yerzhan Ashikbayev and Brazilian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Susan Kleebank.

Broad Agreement on Expanding Cooperation

Both sides emphasized the positive trajectory of Kazakhstan–Brazil relations and expressed readiness to further develop mutually beneficial partnerships.

Deputy Minister Ashikbayev highlighted the growing momentum in political and economic ties, noting significant opportunities for collaboration in the agro-industrial sector, product processing, transport and logistics infrastructure, energy, agriculture, civil aviation, and digitalization. He also underscored the increasing interest in local production initiatives and investment in high-tech industries, viewing them as promising areas for future cooperation.

Ashikbayev identified education as a sector with substantial potential, citing opportunities for academic exchanges and the expansion of Portuguese language studies in Kazakhstan.

Brazil Highlights Strategic Value of Partnership

Deputy Minister Kleebank thanked Kazakhstan for its high-level participation in BRICS and COP-30 events, noting that Kazakhstan is the only Central Asian country with an embassy in Brazil—a sign of its long-term strategic vision for relations with Latin America’s largest economy.

She stressed that Brazil’s embassy in Astana—its sole diplomatic mission in Central Asia—underscored Kazakhstan’s importance as a regional hub and a central partner in Brazil’s engagement with the region.

Regional and Global Agendas Discussed

Ashikbayev briefed the Brazilian delegation on key regional developments, including enhanced connectivity, new transport and logistics routes, and an increased focus on sustainable development.

The Brazilian side praised Kazakhstan’s contributions to global multilateral initiatives, particularly in areas such as energy and nuclear security, green economy cooperation, water-climate issues, and active participation in UN-led processes.

Both countries reaffirmed their strong commitment to multilateralism, diplomacy, and fair international cooperation.

Focus on Humanitarian and Educational Exchanges

The consultations also covered humanitarian and educational cooperation, including university partnerships, joint scientific research, and tourism exchange. Both sides agreed on the importance of fostering people-to-people ties to support the long-term development of bilateral relations.

Commitment to Continued Dialogue

At the conclusion of the talks, the delegations expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved and confirmed their readiness to maintain regular contacts at various levels, further advancing Kazakhstan–Brazil cooperation in the years ahead.
