Kazakhstan Attracts Interest of Leading Austrian Companies for Collaboration

Astana, The Gulf Observer: During his official visit to Austria, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, engaged in productive discussions with key representatives of leading Austrian companies spanning the construction, logistics, and machinery sectors, as reported by the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs on March 16.

At a meeting with Josef Lasselsberger, CEO of the renowned Lasselsberger Group, Minister Nurtleu reviewed the progress of an investment project aimed at establishing the production of ceramic tiles, dry building mixes, and construction adhesives in Astana. The initiative, geared towards import substitution, holds the potential to create over 200 job opportunities while bolstering the local economy. Additionally, discussions focused on exploring opportunities for collaboration in the field of metallurgy, with an emphasis on high-value conversion processes.

During discussions with Wolfram Senger-Weiss, CEO of Gebrüder Weiss, attention was directed towards the company’s plans to enhance multimodal cargo transportation and expand the network of class A warehouse terminals in Kazakhstan. Minister Nurtleu affirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to facilitating and supporting the company’s endeavors in the region.

Furthermore, Minister Nurtleu held talks with Johannes Max-Theurer, CEO of Plasser & Theurer, centering on a pilot project for the digitalization of Kazakhstan’s railway infrastructure. The project, aimed at optimizing maintenance procedures and enhancing the efficiency and safety of railway operations, underscores Kazakhstan’s commitment to modernizing its transportation infrastructure.

Minister Nurtleu commended the keen interest demonstrated by Austrian businesses and reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s readiness to extend comprehensive support for collaborative projects aimed at fostering mutual economic growth and development.
