Kazakhstan-China Relations Enter Golden Stage of Development: President Tokayev
Astana, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan affirmed today that relations with China have entered a golden stage of development during talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Astana. The Kazakhstani leader expressed gratitude for President Xi’s state visit, highlighting its significance in further solidifying the comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two nations.
“We cherish the strong bonds of good neighborliness and centuries-long friendship with China,” President Tokayev remarked, underscoring the pivotal role of their interstate integration as a model for others. He emphasized that the bilateral relations have reached a new pinnacle of development, encompassing diverse sectors crucial for sustainable social and economic advancement and enhancing the welfare of their peoples.
In 2023, bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and China surged to a record high of $41 billion, marking a substantial milestone in economic collaboration. Currently, 45 joint investment projects are actively progressing across industries such as energy, transport, transit, green economy, and agriculture, illustrating the depth and breadth of their strategic partnership.
Earlier, a grand welcome ceremony was held at the Akorda Residence to honor President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Kazakhstan, highlighting the warmth and significance of bilateral relations at the highest levels.
President Tokayev and President Xi Jinping’s discussions are expected to yield further advancements in bilateral cooperation and set the stage for continued mutual prosperity and regional stability.
