Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Strengthens Economic and Investment Cooperation with South Korea

Seoul, The Gulf Observer: On November 3, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Murat Nurtleu, arrived in the Republic of Korea for an official visit, where he is scheduled to engage with South Korean leadership, hold discussions with Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul, and participate in the “Central Asia – Republic of Korea” forum. This visit underscores Kazakhstan’s commitment to enhancing bilateral trade, economic, and investment cooperation with South Korea, according to the Kazakh MFA.

On the first day of his visit, Minister Nurtleu held meetings with executives from prominent South Korean companies to advance collaborative projects across multiple sectors. In discussions with top managers from Hyundae Hospital, the parties explored a joint venture with Kazakhstan’s Shin-Line company to construct a 200-bed multi-functional hospital in the Almaty region. Minister Nurtleu highlighted the significance of the project for Kazakhstan’s social sector, noting that the hospital would integrate advanced Korean medical practices and technology, elevating healthcare services in the region.

A meeting with You E&C focused on the construction of a waste processing plant in Kazakhstan’s Kyzylorda region, a critical component of Kazakhstan’s 2060 carbon neutrality goals. The plant will aid in improving the environmental landscape and fostering sustainable regional economic growth. You E&C also expressed interest in expanding their environmental initiatives to other regions in Kazakhstan.

Additionally, Minister Nurtleu met with leaders of Sejong and Seoyon E-HWA to discuss the production of auto components in the Kostanay region. The Korean companies showed strong interest in investing in Kazakhstan and committed to training local personnel to facilitate the adoption of new technologies.

Minister Nurtleu assured that the Kazakh government would fully support these initiatives, emphasizing that they represent key steps in strengthening economic relations between Kazakhstan and South Korea.
