Strengthening Mutual Trust and Security Cooperation
In his address, the President emphasized the importance of strengthening mutual trust and security cooperation among the member states. Against this backdrop, the President urged the SCO to enhance its stabilizing and creative role in addressing the erosion of international law, preventing geopolitical splits, and ultimately enhancing peace and security globally.
Promoting Peace and Security in Eurasia
Expressing confidence in the SCO’s potential, the Head of State highlighted the organization’s exceptional opportunities to act as a guarantor of peace and security on the Eurasian continent. To further this goal, Kazakhstan proposed developing the SCO initiative “On World Unity for Just Peace, Accord, and Development,” which has garnered support from the member states.
Enhancing Cybersecurity
Addressing another pressing issue, the President called for the strengthening of cybersecurity. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed the development of a special mechanism for the constant exchange of information, adoption of best practices, and sharing of experiences to ensure the steady functioning of the SCO’s information infrastructure. The action plan on ensuring international information security adopted today aligns with these objectives, according to the Head of State.
Expanding Trade and Economic Ties
The second priority area outlined by the President is the expansion of trade and economic ties among the SCO member states. He emphasized the importance of deepening economic cooperation to foster mutual growth and development in the region.
