Kazakhstan’s Putintseva Claims Opening Victory at 2025 Italian Open

Rome, The Gulf Observer: Kazakhstan’s Yulia Putintseva, currently ranked World No. 29, commenced her doubles campaign at the prestigious Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome with a commanding victory alongside Canadian partner Leylah Fernandez, according to media reports.
In the opening round, the Putintseva-Fernandez duo secured a straight-sets win over Japan’s Makoto Ninomiya and China’s Xu Yifan, closing the match 6–3, 6–2 in one hour and ten minutes. The pair advances to the round of 16, where they will face Italy’s Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini.
The Internazionali BNL d’Italia, part of the WTA 1000 series, boasts a total prize pool of €6,009,593. The champions in the women’s doubles category will receive €306,500 each and earn 1,000 ranking points.
