Kenya Reaffirms Support for MSMEs and Local Industry at International Trade Expo 2025

Nairobi, The Gulf Observer: Kenya has underscored its commitment to empowering micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), cooperatives, and local manufacturers as the International Trade Expo 2025 officially opened on Thursday at the Sarit Centre in Nairobi.

Hosted by the Rajasthan Association of Kenya, the event brings together local and international exhibitors with a shared focus on innovation, technology transfer, and inclusive economic growth.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs Development Wycliffe Oparanya highlighted the pivotal role of such expos in advancing the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

“The Government of Kenya views such expos as critical drivers of industrial growth, technology transfer, and new investment—especially for MSMEs, cooperatives, and local manufacturers under the BETA agenda,” said Oparanya.

Buildcon: A New Frontier in Construction and Infrastructure

A major highlight of this year’s expo is Buildcon, a specialized platform aimed at sparking innovation and accelerating investment in the construction, housing, and infrastructure sectors. Positioned as a collaborative space for industry players, policymakers, and innovators, Buildcon seeks to ensure that SMEs gain meaningful participation in Kenya’s infrastructure development.

“Kenya is at a pivotal moment in its development journey,” Oparanya added.
“Platforms like Buildcon bridge gaps and foster innovation while giving SMEs real opportunity in the ongoing construction boom.”

Kenya Wood Expo Showcases Artisanal Excellence

The Kenya Wood Expo segment is also drawing significant attention, celebrating the country’s growing talent in furniture design, woodwork, and interior decor. Exhibitors are showcasing products that blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary, eco-friendly aesthetics.

“The creativity and talent on display here show just how competitive our wood and design industry can be on the global stage,” said one exhibitor.

Energy Innovation Takes the Spotlight

In the renewable energy sector, Solar, Electric, Power and Lights (SEPL) has introduced the All-Energy Electro-System, a smart solution that integrates electronics into solar systems to enhance energy generation, storage, and distribution. The innovation promises a more affordable and reliable clean energy option for both businesses and communities.

Global Participation and Economic Impact

The expo, featuring participants from Kenya, India, and other countries, is expected to foster commercial partnerships and generate policy insights to enhance Kenya’s trade competitiveness. The event aligns closely with the government’s broader goals of local value addition, import substitution, and export diversification.

For Kenya’s Jua Kali artisans, rural innovators, and MSMEs, the International Trade Expo 2025 offers more than just a marketplace—it serves as a platform for visibility, collaboration, and empowerment.

“This is where innovation meets opportunity,” concluded Oparanya.
“It’s how we ensure that growth is inclusive and sustainable for all.”
