King Abdulaziz International Airport Welcomes Inaugural Direct Flight from Ashgabat

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: King Abdulaziz International Airport marked a significant milestone with the arrival of its first regular direct flight from Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, carrying 279 passengers. The inaugural flight, celebrated in the presence of Turkmen Ambassador Oras Mohammed Charyyev, highlights the strategic expansion efforts of Jeddah Airports to connect King Abdulaziz International Airport with diverse international destinations.

The new route, scheduled three times a week, aims to bolster economic ties, enhance trade, and facilitate the journey for passengers, including Hajj and Umrah pilgrims and tourists, fostering closer ties between Saudi Arabia and Turkmenistan.

King Abdulaziz International Airport achieved a record-breaking annual passenger traffic of over 42.7 million in 2023, reflecting a 36% increase from the previous year. The initiative aligns with the airport’s vision to link to 150 international destinations and accommodate 114 million passengers by 2030
