Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Mr. Hassan Masood Kanwar, Vice Chairman of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade (KP-BOIT), along with Mr. Qaiser Nawab, Chairman of the Belt and Road Initiative for Sustainable Development (BRISD), paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Alisher Tukhtaev, Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Pakistan. The meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral economic ties and explore new avenues for regional economic integration.

During the discussion, Mr. Hassan Masood Kanwar outlined the immense investment potential of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, highlighting key sectors such as tourism, agriculture, minerals, renewable energy, and industrial development. He emphasized his strategic vision to attract foreign investment, promote indigenous products, and support local entrepreneurs by connecting them with international markets. He also stressed the geo-strategic importance of Peshawar as a historic gateway to the Silk Road, presenting it as a pivotal hub for regional connectivity.

Ambassador Tukhtaev welcomed Mr. Hassan’s proactive engagement and recognized Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s growing role in regional trade. He reiterated Uzbekistan’s commitment to achieving the $1 billion trade volume target with Pakistan, and emphasized the country’s favorable investment environment, business-friendly reforms, and incentives for foreign investors.

The Ambassador also emphasized the significance of cultural and people-to-people ties, describing Peshawar and Termez as “sister cities” and proposing enhanced cooperation in education, culture, and commerce. He noted that direct flights and improved land connectivity were key to increasing trade, tourism, and logistics between the two nations.

Chairman BRISD, Mr. Qaiser Nawab, praised the Ambassador’s inclusive and supportive approach toward the Pakistani business community. He acknowledged Uzbekistan’s active role in promoting regional peace, economic integration, and cultural diplomacy. Mr. Nawab also shared BRISD’s mission to connect Silk Road countries for sustainable development and regional trade, aligning with the mutual vision of connectivity between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

Several collaborative initiatives were discussed, including bilateral investment forums, cultural exhibitions, and academic exchange programs. Ambassador Tukhtaev was formally invited to visit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to engage with key stakeholders, investors, and local chambers to explore investment prospects firsthand.

H.E. Mr. Alisher Tukhtaev thanked the delegation for the invitation and reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with Pakistan, viewing it as a vital partner in the region’s collective prosperity.
