President of Kyrgystan meets UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres

President of Kyrgystan Sadyr Japarov met with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres at the UN Headquarters in New York on Tuesday.
New York, The Gulf Observer: President of Kyrgystan Sadyr Japarov met with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres at the UN Headquarters in New York on Tuesday.
Prior to the meeting, President Sadyr Japarov has signed a guest book with the best wishes for the Organization.
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres warmly welcomed President Sadyr Japarov, noting he has emotional ties with Kyrgyzstan and he is glad about participation of President Japarov in the General Debate of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.
Antonio Guterres said the Kyrgyz Republic is one of the first countries he visited in capacity of UN Secretary General.
Antonio Guterres underscored he supports the initiatives of Sadyr Japarov on protection of mountain ecosystems.
Having touched upon the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, the UN Secretary General offered condolences to President Japarov over human losses.
Antonio Guterres said he looks forward to the resolution of border issues between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
President Sadyr Japarov has thanked for the opportunity to discuss relevant issues on the agenda of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the UN. He reminded that partnership of Kyrgyzstan with UN has turned 30 years this year.
As a responsible UN member state, Kyrgyzstan is committed to undertaken international obligations and the UN Charter, President Japarov said.
Unfortunately, the meeting is held in the background of the unprovoked military aggression on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, he added.
The President reminded that on September 14, 15 and 16, having breached all earlier agreements, Tajikistan attacked the border guarding and civilian infrastructure along the perimeter of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.
The President underlined that Kyrgyzstan highly values a personal attention of the UN Secretary General and support to Kyrgyzstan and expressed appreciation for assistance provided to the country.
President Sadyr Japarov said Kyrgyzstan advances the idea of declaring 2023-2027 “Five Year Action Program for Development of Mountainous Regions” and suggested a draft resolution at the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.
President Japarov has called upon multilateral financial institutions to invest into creation of Mountainous Countries Development Fund, pay more attention to problems of mountainous countries and invest more in addressing their problems.
