Leyla Aliyeva Meets Bajram Begaj in Tirana, Discusses Tourism and Investment Cooperation

Tirana, The Gulf Observer: Leyla Aliyeva met with the President of the Republic of Albania, Bajram Begaj, in Tirana to discuss the strengthening of bilateral ties and expanding cooperation in tourism, culture, and investment.
During the meeting, President Begaj noted that the international art exhibition held at the residence of the Prime Minister of Albania marked an important milestone in fostering closer relations between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Albania.
Leyla Aliyeva подчеркed that the foundation of Azerbaijan–Albania relations extends beyond formal diplomatic protocols, highlighting the importance of people-to-people contacts and cultural exchange in deepening mutual understanding.
Focus on Connectivity and Tourism Development
The discussions also addressed the elimination of logistical barriers between the two countries. Both sides underscored the importance of launching direct Baku–Tirana flights to enhance connectivity and facilitate tourism and business exchanges.
Considering Albania’s favorable climate, with approximately 300 sunny days per year, the parties explored opportunities for developing year-round tourism and ecotourism initiatives. They also discussed the potential creation of joint tourism routes linking Albania with Montenegro and Kosovo to strengthen regional travel cooperation.
Expanding Investment Cooperation
The meeting highlighted strong interest in Azerbaijani investments in Albania’s economic sectors, particularly tourism. It was noted that successful Azerbaijani projects implemented in Montenegro could be replicated along Albania’s coastline, with expectations of achieving even greater results.
Both sides emphasized that the political will of the leadership of Azerbaijan and Albania is reflected in tangible steps, including the abolition of the visa regime and the enhancement of diplomatic representation.
Following the meeting, President Begaj visited the international art exhibition MAMA “Mother Nature”, showcased at the Prime Minister’s residence, further underscoring the cultural dimension of bilateral cooperation.
