Leyla Aliyeva Visits “Azerbaijan Room” at United Nations Office in Geneva

Geneva, The Gulf Observer: Leyla Aliyeva on January 30 visited the “Azerbaijan Room” at the United Nations Office in Geneva, Switzerland, highlighting Azerbaijan’s cultural presence at one of the world’s key multilateral platforms.
During the visit, Leyla Aliyeva was briefed on the design concept and the national elements incorporated into the “Azerbaijan Room.” It was noted that only a limited number of countries have dedicated rooms at the UN Office in Geneva, which are used as venues for sessions, meetings and official events held under the auspices of the United Nations. In this context, the “Azerbaijan Room” plays an important role in presenting the country’s heritage and strengthening its visibility within the UN system.
The “Azerbaijan Room” was established at the UN Geneva office by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and is equipped with modern, up-to-date facilities, enabling the effective hosting of meetings, conferences and other official gatherings.
The interior design reflects Azerbaijan’s rich national identity, featuring photographs showcasing the country’s diverse nature and historical legacy. The room also incorporates elements of Shabaka, the traditional Azerbaijani stained-glass art, as well as the renowned Garabagh carpet. In addition, Azerbaijani musical instruments — the tar, kamancha and gaval, which are integral to the art of Mugham — are prominently highlighted, further underscoring the nation’s cultural heritage.
The visit underscored Azerbaijan’s continued efforts to promote its cultural values and national identity on international platforms.
