Lithuanian PM Visits Heydar Aliyev Center, Explores Azerbaijan’s Cultural Heritage

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister of Lithuania, Inga Ruginienė, visited the iconic Heydar Aliyev Center on April 10 as part of her official trip to Azerbaijan, where she was introduced to the country’s rich history, culture, and national legacy.

During the visit, Director of the Center Anar Alakbarov briefed the Prime Minister on the architectural significance of the building, widely regarded as one of the finest examples of contemporary global architecture. He highlighted that the Center’s activities are dedicated to promoting the philosophy of statehood, the ideology of Azerbaijanism, and the legacy of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

At the Heydar Aliyev Museum within the complex, the Lithuanian Prime Minister explored interactive and virtual exhibits showcasing various stages of Heydar Aliyev’s life and political career, spanning both the Soviet period and Azerbaijan’s years of independence. She also viewed a collection of official vehicles used by the National Leader between 1969 and 2003, along with archival photographs and multimedia displays that attracted keen interest.

Prime Minister Ruginienė was further acquainted with Azerbaijan’s cultural and historical richness during her tour of the “Pearls of Azerbaijan” exhibition, which features rare artifacts, traditional crafts, ancient musical instruments, national costumes, coins, and sacred texts in multiple languages.

The visit also included tours of several thematic exhibitions, including “Dolls in Art,” presenting both traditional and modern creations; “Musical Instruments: Unity and Diversity”; and the “Dance of Patterns” carpet exhibition, highlighting the country’s renowned carpet-weaving traditions. She additionally explored the “Classic Cars Exhibition” before signing the Center’s guest book.

Concluding her visit, Prime Minister Ruginienė was presented with a commemorative gift and departed the Center with a highly positive impression, reflecting the deepening cultural and diplomatic ties between Lithuania and Azerbaijan.
