Macao SAR Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng Aims for Economic Diversification in the Year of the Dragon
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chief Executive of China’s Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), Ho Iat Seng, emphasized the need for proactive measures to achieve substantial progress in appropriate economic diversification in the Year of the Dragon. In his Chinese Lunar New Year message, Ho reflected on Macao’s recovery from the pandemic and its robust development in the past Year of the Rabbit.
Looking ahead, Ho outlined key priorities, stating, “We will prioritize the growth of the Cooperation Zone and meet the phased goals laid out in the Master Plan of the Development of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin at a faster pace. More efforts will also be made to conduct external exchanges to integrate Macao better into the overall national development.”
Zheng Xincong, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, highlighted that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland. He expressed hopes for Macao to better integrate into the country’s overall development and promote exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.
Liu Xianfa, commissioner of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Macao SAR, acknowledged the unity and leadership of Macao’s chief executive and government in promoting various undertakings. In the new year, Liu pledged the foreign affairs office’s full support for Macao to govern according to law, expand foreign exchanges and cooperation, and implement the purpose of serving the SAR.
