Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: On 9 July 2025, Mr. Mohd Syafik Firdaus, Deputy Head of Mission at the Malaysian High Commission in Islamabad, held a meeting with Mr. Muhammad Awais Satti, President of the Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries (ICSTSI), at the Chamber’s office to discuss ways to enhance bilateral economic cooperation.

The meeting provided a valuable platform for both sides to engage in wide-ranging and constructive discussions on matters of mutual interest, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, and small and medium enterprise (SME) collaboration.

During the meeting, Mr. Syafik reaffirmed Malaysia’s strong commitment to further deepening its comprehensive partnership with Pakistan. He expressed Malaysia’s keen interest in exploring new avenues for collaboration, especially within the SME sector, which plays a vital role in both economies.

Highlighting the positive momentum following the Official Visit of the Prime Minister of Malaysia to Pakistan last year, Mr. Syafik emphasized the importance of building upon that visit’s outcomes to advance shared economic objectives.

Key topics discussed included Malaysia’s proposal to expand imports of halal beef from Pakistan and its continued commitment to importing premium-quality Pakistani Basmati rice—initiatives that could further enhance bilateral trade flows.

Both parties recognized the essential role of small traders and industries in driving sustainable economic growth and strengthening economic linkages between the two countries. They agreed on the need to foster stronger institutional partnerships, encourage business-to-business exchanges, and promote greater participation in trade fairs and investment forums.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of Malaysia and Pakistan to deepening their long-standing relationship, built on mutual respect, shared economic interests, and enduring people-to-people connections.
