Malaysia Ready to Engage OIC Leaders Over Israeli Air Strike on Qatar, Says PM Anwar

Malaysia

Putrajaya, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has stated that Malaysia is prepared to engage leaders of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to formulate a response to the latest Israeli air strike on Doha, Qatar.

Speaking after launching the International Conference on Social Sciences and Humanities 2025 on Wednesday (September 10), Anwar confirmed that Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan had already been in contact with his Qatari counterpart regarding the incident.

“If there is a need, I will contact the Emir of Qatar, including several other Islamic country leaders, such as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and others to think of a response,” Anwar said.

He stressed that Israel’s actions represented a grave escalation. “Israel has gone too far, and this shows that they can attack any country in the world on any excuse,” he warned.

The Prime Minister further underlined Malaysia’s strong condemnation of the air strike, which targeted Hamas leaders in Doha. “This shows that the world system has failed. A country that commits a crime by blatantly attacking another country can be allowed with impunity. This will destroy the entire global system and order,” he said.

The attack, launched on Tuesday, killed six people and has drawn widespread condemnation from several countries. Qatar confirmed it was not warned in advance of the strike.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Washington had not been notified beforehand of the Israeli operation. The United States is currently playing a mediating role in negotiations between Israel and Hamas aimed at ending the Gaza war and securing the release of hostages.
