Melasti Beach in Bali Inspected for 10th World Water Forum Venue
Bali, The Gulf Observer: The acting governor of Bali, Sang Made Mahendra Jaya, conducted an inspection of Melasti Beach in Badung, Bali, which has been chosen as one of the venues for the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) scheduled from May 18 to 24, 2024. The beach in South Kuta is deemed suitable as one of the primary stages for the global event that will gather delegates from nearly 200 countries.
Governor Jaya expressed his confidence in Melasti Beach as an ideal location for the 10th WWF, and he emphasized the significance of showcasing the local Tumpek Uye Day ceremony to the international delegates. The ceremony, which expresses gratitude to animals for their support of human life, will coincide with the opening of the forum on May 18.
During the visit, the governor explored iconic points on Melasti Beach, including the Watu Gangga Pavilion, where self-purification ceremonies are conducted. Watu Gangga, known for breaking waves, also serves as a venue for local religious ceremonies.
The Tumpek Uye ceremony and Segara Kerthi, a purification and glorification of water, are expected to add cultural richness to the opening of the 10th WWF. Governor Jaya encouraged public participation, emphasizing prayers for the smooth and beneficial conduct of the forum for Bali’s nature.
Bali has been chosen as the location for the 2024 World Water Forum, themed “Water for Shared Prosperity.” The event, organized every three years, anticipates the participation of 30 thousand attendees from 172 countries.
