Min Aung Hlaing Stresses Education and Rule of Law During PyinOoLwin Inspection

Yangon, The Gulf Observer: Chairman of the State Administration Council and Prime Minister, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, underscored the critical role of education and legal awareness in fostering a peaceful and developed society during an official inspection visit to PyinOoLwin. Accompanied by Council Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo and Mandalay Region Chief Minister, the Senior General reviewed local development efforts focused on water sufficiency, educational advancement, and urban beautification.
Inspecting the Hsinlan Dam upgrade project, the Senior General was briefed by Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, U Min Naung, on the progress of improving the dam’s spillway. The project aims to significantly enhance water supply capabilities across the PyinOoLwin region upon completion.
At No. 3 Basic Education High School in PyinOoLwin, the Senior General observed classroom activities and the school’s library services. Addressing faculty members, he emphasized that the root causes of terrorism and social instability lie in weak academic proficiency and inadequate critical thinking skills. Teachers, he stated, bear the responsibility not only of delivering curriculum-based education but also of nurturing students’ moral discernment and understanding of cause and consequence.
“Our country’s data indicates that nearly half of the population remains undereducated,” he noted. “Teachers must cultivate patriotism and national spirit in the younger generation while continuously reading and expanding their own knowledge to better serve their students.”
In support of educational development, the Senior General donated a selection of fiction and non-fiction books to the school library. He later toured BEHS 1 Branch (BEMS), where he inspected student learning and vocational training facilities in agriculture, livestock, and industry.
While visiting the construction site of the Thumingala Market (Nyantaw Market), the Senior General received briefings on market development, water supply initiatives, and progress on the beautification of PyinOoLwin. He reiterated the importance of maintaining the city’s reputation as an academic and horticultural hub and stressed the need to uphold bylaws to protect the area’s greenery and prevent illegal deforestation.
He further addressed legal enforcement, reminding authorities of their duty to uphold existing laws, including those related to farmland, virgin land, and highway usage. Violations must be addressed in accordance with established legal frameworks, he said.
In promoting civic responsibility, the Senior General shared plans for law education to be included in the KG+10 and KG+11 curricula. He also highlighted ongoing legal and economic lectures being delivered at universities throughout the country, aiming to deepen students’ understanding of democratic principles and economic awareness.
Concluding the visit, the Senior General inspected the market renovation works and provided directives to ensure the project’s timely and effective implementation.
