Mexico City, The Gulf Observer: Suchata “Opal” Chuangsri, Miss Universe Thailand 2024, achieved an impressive milestone by securing the position of third runner-up at the Miss Universe pageant held in Mexico City on Sunday morning, Thailand time.

The 21-year-old Phuket native, known for her poise and determination, stood out among contestants from around the globe. Standing 180 centimeters tall, Suchata comes from a family that runs a hotel in Phuket and is pursuing a degree in international relations at the Faculty of Political Science, Thammasat University. Fluent in Thai, English, and Chinese, she has been recognized as a strong advocate for social causes.

In 2022, Suchata made her mark as the youngest contestant in the Miss Universe Thailand pageant, where she earned the third runner-up position and a special award, Miss Natural Beauty. She went on to be crowned Miss Universe Thailand in July 2024, a title that paved the way for her success on the international stage.

Her journey into beauty pageants stems from a deeply personal mission. At the age of 16, Suchata underwent surgery to remove a 10-centimeter breast tumor. Inspired by this experience, she has since committed to raising awareness about breast cancer through her platform.

The Miss Universe 2024 title was won by Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, while the first and second runners-up were Miss Nigeria and Miss Mexico, respectively.

Suchata’s achievement has brought pride to Thailand, highlighting her as a role model for young women and a testament to resilience and purpose-driven ambition.
