Mohammad Hafeez offered multiple roles in PCB by Zaka Ashraf

Lahore, The Gulf Observer: The meeting between Hafeez and Zaka Ashraf took place on Thursday at the PCB headquarters in Lahore, where Hafeez extended his congratulations to Ashraf on assuming the role of PCB head once again.

Ashraf, the chairman of the newly-formed PCB management committee, has offered multiple roles to former Pakistan cricketer, Mohammad Hafeez.

The meeting between Hafeez and Ashraf took place on Thursday at the PCB headquarters in Lahore, where Hafeez extended his congratulations to Ashraf on assuming the role of PCB head once again. During their discussion, Ashraf proposed two key positions to Hafeez: the role of Pakistan’s chief selector or an important role in the National Cricket Academy.

Upon receiving these offers, Hafeez expressed his gratitude to Ashraf and conveyed his enthusiasm for contributing to the betterment of Pakistan cricket. However, he requested some time to consult with his family and friends before making a final decision regarding the roles.

Hafeez, while talking to Cricket Pakistan, emphasized that if given the opportunity, he would work diligently to bring about reforms in the PCB, stating that it would be an honor for him to serve Pakistan cricket, provided he is given respect, dignity, and full authority in his role.

He highlighted that his motivation does not stem from monetary gains but rather from a genuine ambition to elevate Pakistan cricket to new heights. He also acknowledged Ashraf as a respected administrator and expressed his appreciation for the offers extended to him during their meeting.

The recent changes in the PCB management committee saw the departure of Najam Sethi and the appointment of Zaka Ashraf as the new chairman. As a result, the position of Chief Selector, previously held by Haroon Rashid, has become vacant, and a new appointment will be made in due course.

Haroon Rashid confirmed while speaking to Cricket Pakistan that he is no longer part of the board in any capacity.

Furthermore, , there have been reports suggesting that other prominent figures in Pakistani cricket, including former captain Younis Khan, Mohsin Hassan Khan, and Saleem Yousaf, are also being considered for roles within the new setup. It is worth noting that while Shoaib Akhtar’s name was discussed, Zaka Ashraf ultimately decided against offering him a role in the PCB.
