Moldova Plans to Establish Diplomatic Presence in Kazakhstan
Astana, The Gulf Observer: In a bid to bolster diplomatic ties and foster deeper collaboration with Central Asian nations, Moldova is actively considering the establishment of a diplomatic mission in Kazakhstan, Deputy Prime Minister and Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi revealed, as reported by media outlets.
Addressing viewers on the public TV channel Moldova1, Mihai Popsoi articulated the strategic importance of inaugurating a Moldovan embassy in Kazakhstan, underscoring its potential to catalyze the expansion of cultural and economic engagements in the region, particularly with Kazakhstan, a nation with which Moldova shares a robust partnership.
“We are currently in the process of establishing an embassy in Kazakhstan, through which Moldova will facilitate its diplomatic endeavors in Central Asian countries. Our historical ties with Kazakhstan, coupled with the presence of a vibrant Moldovan diaspora fluent in Romanian, underscore the significance of this diplomatic endeavor,” remarked Mihai Popsoi.
Emphasizing Kazakhstan’s pivotal role in the energy sector, Mihai Popsoi underscored the potential benefits for Moldova’s energy security, given Kazakhstan’s abundant reserves of energy resources. He highlighted Kazakhstan’s direct investments in Moldova’s economy, citing Rompetrol, the operator of the oil products market, and other companies involved in pivotal structural projects within Moldova, as tangible examples of bilateral economic cooperation.
