Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita is participating in the “Invest in Senegal” forum, held in Dakar on October 7–8. He is leading a strong Moroccan delegation comprising prominent business leaders representing sectors such as banking, pharmaceuticals, energy, and water, as well as members of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a press release.

Organized by the Senegalese government, the Invest in Senegal forum serves as the country’s premier annual economic event, bringing together international investors and Senegalese project promoters to exchange ideas, showcase opportunities, and explore partnerships.

According to the Moroccan Foreign Ministry, the Kingdom’s high-level participation “underscores Morocco’s support for Senegal’s development initiatives and reflects the depth of the fraternal and cooperative relations uniting the two brotherly nations.” The statement further highlighted that this engagement aligns with King Mohammed VI’s vision of strengthening South-South cooperation and fostering mutually beneficial economic relations across Africa.

This year’s edition, held at the CICAD Conference Center in Diamniadio near Dakar, is being organized under the theme “Connecter les opportunités, bâtir l’avenir” (“Connecting opportunities, building the future”). The forum seeks to mobilize public and private investment in key growth sectors, promote public-private partnerships (PPPs), and encourage joint ventures between international and local actors.

Participants are engaging in a series of plenary sessions, thematic roundtables, boardrooms, business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) meetings, exhibitions, and side events aimed at facilitating dialogue and deal-making.

The Senegalese government is showcasing investment opportunities in several strategic sectors, including energy, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, finance, agriculture, infrastructure, and the digital economy. These initiatives form part of Senegal Vision 2050, a long-term strategy to transform the country’s economic model, reduce dependency on external debt, and build an inclusive, resilient, and industrialized economy.

To support this vision, Senegal has recently introduced reforms in investment law, taxation, and PPP regulations to enhance the country’s attractiveness to global investors.

Through Morocco’s participation, both governments aim to deepen trade, investment, and industrial cooperation, leveraging shared economic interests for sustainable development.

Morocco and Senegal share a longstanding partnership rooted in historical, cultural, and economic ties. Bilateral cooperation extends across multiple fields, including agriculture, water management, infrastructure, health, and education.

Last year, Morocco launched a new maritime trade route connecting Agadir to Dakar, aimed at strengthening commercial exchange, reducing transit costs, and facilitating smoother trade flows between North and West Africa.

The participation of Minister Bourita and the Moroccan delegation in this forum reaffirms Morocco’s commitment to advancing African economic integration and fostering strategic partnerships that contribute to regional prosperity.
